AI meeting notetakers: consent and privacy

AI notetakers transcribe and summarise meetings. They also record other people, so a few checks matter.

Get consent

Many places require that participants know they are being recorded, and some require everyone to agree. Tell people at the start and offer an alternative.

Where data is stored

Look for hosting region, retention period and whether recordings are used to train models. Vendors describe this on their own sites; read it.

Sensitive conversations

Avoid recording legal, medical or HR discussions unless your organisation has approved it.

Check the notes

Transcripts can contain errors. Verify names, numbers and decisions before acting on a summary.
